Q: What are your personal health and fitness goals?
As I approach 60, I am more and more aware of my need to pay closer attention to my fitness and overall health. I am hoping that I can keep pushing myself to get stronger and stay as active as possible. That is one of the reasons that I signed up for the Mud Run - stepping outside of my comfort zone keeps me on my toes! I also thought the Mud Run would be a fun time with the friends I have made at Struck Fitness.
Q: What ONE thing keeps you most focused and motivated to continue to work hard to reach your goals?
My age! I spent a lot of years sacrificing my time for my family and I didn't pay attention to my own health. I just met with my endocrinologist and we were discussing the reality that I was over 20 pounds heavier 10 years ago than I am today. I am still working on my journey to a more optimal weight. Slow but steady!
Q: How has Struck Fitness made a difference in your life?
I started at a gym in 2016 that was a pretty intense boot camp experience; it was hard but I really liked it. That place closed in 2019 and I bounced around looking for a judgement-free place where I could challenge myself and improve my overall fitness - I tried Pilates, yoga, joining a gym - nothing really worked for me. In Struck Fitness I have found a place where I can push myself and be surrounded by supportive teammates, both the trainers and my classmates have been awesome. I am as fit as I have been in a VERY long time and I love coming to the gym every day. The people, the workouts, the encouragement have been second to none. I feel like a beast when I leave and it has improved my confidence in other aspects of my life.
Q. What made you decide to want to join Struck Fitness?
She didn't know this until now, but a couple of years ago I read a couple of posts from Krista Huebner on Facebook where she wrote about Struck Fitness and how great she found the workouts. Krista and I go way back to when our sons were 7 years old and started playing soccer together. I know Krista is a straight shooter, so if she said it, it had to be true. Last January I saw an ad on social media for Struck Fitness and I remembered Krista's endorsement, so I called and spoke to Ange. A year ago I started and haven't looked back for a second. Walking through the door is the hardest part. Show up and the rest is easy.
Q. What would you say to someone on the fence about making a change & committing to their goals?
As women, we have to take time for ourselves - we are worth both the time and the money it costs to invest in our fitness. The same doctor who I discussed my weight with told me over 10 years ago that I was at the halftime of life, and if I wanted to play in the second half, I needed to take better care of myself; that meant weight control and fitness activities. Struck has helped me with both of those things by providing amazing workouts in an incredibly collegial environment and nutritional challenges that have led to weight loss and better control over my diet. What I would say to anyone considering Struck Fitness as a part of their health journey is - DO IT! You will not be sorry. We work hard, have fun, and support each other. (and the workouts are only as intense as you want them to be - no competition and no overdoing it) Come join us.
Simply put, Struck Fitness Boot Camp’s mission is to help you, “Discover your inner superhero.” After spending time in our facility and with our team we want our members to walk out of our doors after a workout and feel like they are better version of themselves. It isn’t the scientific sum of calories, workouts and weight that keeps our members returning. It is not the cutting edge equipment and technology. It is the people that count.
