In one word - YES!!  And here are some fun and easy ways to keep active and stay fit on vacation.

Vacation time is often seen as a chance to switch off, relax, and maybe even indulge a little. While all of these are important aspects of taking a break, pausing your fitness routine doesn't have to be part of the vacation package. In fact, here at Struck Fitness, we believe that staying active during your vacation can improve your trip experience and keep you feeling great.

Why Workout on Vacation?

You might be asking, "Why should I work out on vacation?" Here are some compelling reasons to keep moving:

  1. Keep Your Progress Going: Physical fitness requires consistency. Even a few days of inactivity can disrupt the progress you've made. By keeping up with some form of physical activity, you can maintain your fitness level, making it easier to get back to your routine once the vacation is over.

  1. Energize Your Day: Starting your day with a brief workout or activity can boost your energy levels, keeping you energized and ready for the day's adventures.

  1. Balance Out the Treats: Let's face it- most of us are likely to indulge a bit (okay, maybe a lot) with food and drinks while on vacation. With some daily activity, you can balance these treats out, helping you maintain your weight and feel better overall.

Quick and Easy Hotel Room Workout

If your vacation doesn't include a lot of physical activities, or if you find yourself stuck indoors due to the weather, having a quick and easy workout routine can come in handy. And with a resistance band, which is lightweight and portable, you can have a full-body workout right in your hotel room:

Bicep Curls: Stand on the band with feet hip-width apart, hold onto the ends, and curl your hands towards your shoulders. You should feel a strain in your biceps. Do 10-15 reps.

Squats: Stand on the band with feet hip-width apart, lift the ends to your shoulder level, and do regular squats. You should feel a strain in your thighs and glutes. Do 10-15 reps.

Side Steps: Place the band around your ankles, stand in a slight squat, keep the band tight, and take small steps to the side. Take 10-15 steps in each direction. This exercise is great for your outer thighs and glutes.

Glute Bridges: Lay down on your back, bend your knees, and place your feet on the floor. Put the band around your thighs just above your knees. Lift your hips up towards the ceiling, squeezing your glutes. Do 10-15 reps.

Repeat this circuit twice and you've got a full-body workout in just 10 minutes!

Incorporating Fitness into Your Travel Plans

Staying active on vacation is easier than you think. Here are some ways to incorporate fitness into your travel plans:

Beach Vacations:

  • Morning or Evening Walks: Plan a daily beach walk to watch the sunrise or sunset. This can be a calming, enjoyable way to get some movement on vacation.
  • Water Sports: Try surfing, paddleboarding, or kayaking. Not only are these activities fun, but they also offer a great workout.

City Vacations:

  • Walking Tours: Visiting a new city? Opt for walking tours to explore. You'd be surprised how much exercise you can get from touring on foot.
  • Biking: Many cities offer bike rentals as a form of transport. This is a perfect way to explore and stay active.

Mountain Vacations:

  • Hiking: Hiking is a great way to see the sights and get in a great workout.
  • Adventure Sports: Many mountain destinations offer activities like mountain biking or rock climbing, both of which are excellent ways to stay fit.
